2004Yes, Team Crude was well represented in the 2004 MS-150 Bike Tour in Tulsa. As a matter of fact we had over 50 registered team members. Some of these were phantom riders but they still raised their money. Our goal was to increase from last year's 28 to 40. Between people joining our team from Williams (no team this year) to new riders we far surpassed that mark. Team MembersEvent Everything, and I do mean everything was spectacular this year. The route couldn't have been better. There was a few sections we had never been on and some we just hadn't ridden in a few years and some we rode backwards from previous years. Overall, except for Taft road, it couldn't have been better. Some people missed going up Norwood but I'm pretty sure most didn't. We did manage to find a few convenience stores along the way that were selling beer and did our best to support those local economies. Lunch for about 12 of Team Crude was at the new BBQ restaurant in Ft. Gibson. Phil was kind enough to drive a cooler of beer out so we could properly wash it down. And of course I'd be remiss if I didn't thank the Cycle Sluts for the Team Crude Margaritas at the top of Braggs Mountain. What else kept us going at that point other than then thought of a cold Margarita? Upon arriving at Camp Gruber we unloaded the tents, chairs, luggage and of course BEER which consisted of 1 half keg of Boulevard Wheat and a boat load of cases of same. This is in addition to what people brought for themselves. We were finishing up the Boulevard Wheat for weeks afterwards. Jay did a great job of arranging that for us this year. Dinner was superb as always. Michael Friedman arranged for Ludger's to prepare and serve this year. I didn't hear any complaints. All of Saturday night's festivities went off very well including the mini bike races with Jeremy Jones reclaiming his crown as champion. Sunday morning came a little early for a few and it was a little tough getting started, but being well trained in the art of riding and drinking we managed. Arriving back at Southcrest Hospital we did our best to work on trying to finish the Boulevard Wheat but just couldn't do it that day. We did close the parking lot along with the MS employees, Jo Herring & Sherry Setters. As I finally get around to writing this the victory party is getting close and we'll be seeing you there if you participated in this year's event. If not, do it next year.
