Who are we? Or what is Team Crude?

We're just these guys and gals that like to ride bicycles and have a good time. Some would say too much of a good time, but everybody is entitled to their opinion. And we won't even go into what people say about opinions.

Our goal is to support the cycling community in the Oklahoma area, Tulsa specifically, as well as various non-profit charities with our time and money.

Team Crude began in 1999 when a small group of 9 went to Iowa for RAGBRAI. Sitting around late one night after a long hard ride and way too many beers we came up with the name Team Crude. It stands for a couple of things. First, we are from Oklahoma and a lot of towns here were built on oil. In case you don't know it oil in its' natural state as it comes out of the ground is called crude. Actually even if you did know it that's the way it is. And second we can be a crude bunch from time to time.

We have a converted school bus (see picture below) that we use for rides in Oklahoma, surrounding states and Iowa. Our current project is the Crude Bus version 2. It is a diesel pusher with more capacity for people and bikes as well as being quieter and smoother riding. As we work on it pictures will be posted. Having said that we are wanting to sell our first bus. Click here for pictures and if you want to purchase a bus that is great for RAGBRAI please send an e-mail here.

Mission statement

Every organization should have a mission statement. Well, I'm sorry to disappoint you but we don't. Instead we have several mottos that will have to suffice until someone comes up with something better.

Crude from the ground up.

What Happens On The Ride Stays On The Ride (WHOTRSOTR)

Let's ride somewhere and have a beer.

We're partiers with a cycling problem

If you're not having fun you're doing it wrong.

Crude's your daddy.

Charitable donations?

Besides riding bikes and trying to have a good time we also support various local charities in the Tulsa area. Virtually all of our riders participate in the Tulsa area MS BIke Tour in September of each year to raise money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. We also take part in the Tour de Cure to raise money for the American Diabetes Association in June by manning a rest stop as well as those who actually ride and raise money. Many of our members also serve on the committees putting these two events together each year as well as working for various other non-profit organizations.
